About MeCurrently, I am a freelance writer/teacher/lecturer/blogger in the fields of cooking, crafting, herb gardening, and tea. I was a children's/teen librarian for four years (for part of that time, I ran a teen creative arts center), and before that I was a library assistant for two years at a university library. I left the brick-and-mortar library to pursue a number of projects in my favorite research areas. Recently, I've turned several of these into non-fiction book proposals, which I am actively marketing. I have held a number of other jobs in diverse areas, yet all of them stretched my creativity. For instance (and not necessarily in chronological order), I conducted Pampered Chef cooking shows for a year. I worked as a graphic artist (Computer Services Specialist) for Kinko's for two years. I interned with The Beaumont Enterprise straight out of high school for about six months, until my college course load made me give up the late hours. Of course, I found myself volunteering to do layout for the college's literary magazine to make up for it. I like trying new things. I even taught water aerobics for 24 Hour Fitness for a while. And, should I ever fit back in those workout shorts, I will do so again! However, writing has been my lifelong passion. I joined my first professional writer's group when I was twelve. I was the official NaNoWriBrarian for the Young Writer's Program of NaNoWriMo in 2006 and 2007, and I hope to be asked back again this year. I've had a short story published in ByLine Magazine, and a comic mystery play produced by The Comedy Killers, a local theater group. I live in Texas with my husband, two cats and two cockatiels, who have all managed not to attack each other. Contact
